ABOUT
This course is an 8 hour N.O.R.M./T.E.N.O.R.M. training that covers the the needed skills for operators and plant staff to properly assess possible radioactive processes and locations and effectively monitor suspected areas to determine the presence or absence of NORM. This course specifically focuses on the unique operations found only on large and complex Oil & Gas facilities (Refineries/Gas plants). The course will cover the physics and behavior of radioactive isotopes, its behavior, and how to protect yourself from the hazards posed by radiation. Additionally, employees are taught how to properly survey a multitude of items found at each plant. If possible, we encourage every student to bring their own survey meter to the class to ensure that the training covers how to use their specific meter. (if students do not have their own, a training survey meter will be loaned out during the class to complete the hands-on portion of the skills assessment). Students who successfully complete this class will have the knowledge skills and abilities to properly survey a variety of materials and objects in their facility and will be able to determine if harmful levels of radiation are present.
