ABOUT
This course is an 8 hour N.O.R.M./T.E.N.O.R.M. training that covers the the needed skills for pumpers and other employees who are expected to work on production locations and periodically evaluate the presence of radioactive equipment or possibly contaminated hardware. This course specifically focuses on the unique operations found only on production locations for the Oil & Gas industry. Whether you are an operator, contractor, or water hauler; you have the potential to be asked to monitor for radiation in the scale, corrosion/build-up in the flow lines and equipment on location. The course will cover the physics and behavior of radioactive isotopes, its behavior, and how to protect yourself from the hazards posed by radiation. Additionally, employees are taught how to properly survey a multitude of items found on production locations. If possible, we encourage every student to bring their own survey meter to the class to ensure that the training covers how to use their specific meter. (if students do not have their own, a training survey meter will be loaned out during the class to complete the hands-on portion of the skills assessment). Students who successfully complete this class will have the knowledge skills and abilities to properly survey a variety of materials and objects on their locations and will be able to determine if harmful levels of radiation are present.
